Job summary

Tarmac Trading Limited is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Inspector for Tunstead Quarry, Buxton, Derbyshire. You will monitor plant condition, identify defects and support proactive maintenance to minimise downtime and improve reliability.

Ideal candidates have mechanical engineering qualifications, apprenticeship training or equivalent experience, and experience with CMMS in heavy industry. The role emphasizes safety, reporting and continuous improvement within a demanding site environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in quarrying, aggregates, mining, cement, manufacturing, recycling or similar heavy industrial environments.
• Strong fault-finding and equipment condition assessment skills.
• Knowledge of fixed and/or mobile plant maintenance and inspection practices.
• Good understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Experience with maintenance management systems and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned inspections of fixed plant equipment including crushers, screens, conveyors, pumps, motors and gearboxes.
• Inspect mobile plant and identify wear, defects and deterioration.
• Produce inspection reports and recommend corrective actions.
• Support preventative, predictive and planned maintenance activities.
• Assist with breakdown investigations and root cause analysis.
• Review maintenance work to ensure quality and effectiveness.
• Support shutdowns, audits and statutory inspections.
• Maintain accurate records in maintenance management systems.
