Job summary

Mountsorrel Quarry in Leicestershire is seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to own maintenance operations. You will lead a skilled team, maximise plant performance and drive safe, reliable, efficient operations in a heavy industrial setting.

You will plan and deliver preventative maintenance, manage breakdowns, support engineering projects and foster a zero-harm culture. This role demands hands-on leadership and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Experience leading maintenance teams in heavy industry or manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Experience with root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
• Ability to manage budgets, compliance and contractor relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a maintenance team, driving engagement and accountability.
• Deliver planned preventative maintenance programmes.
• Manage breakdown response, defect management and root cause analysis.
• Drive improvements in plant productivity, OEE and operational performance.
• Oversee inspections, maintenance checks and statutory compliance.
• Promote best practice in maintenance management and continuous Improvement.
• Control maintenance-related costs, including labour and overtime.
• Resolve technical issues and support engineering projects.
• Manage contractor relationships and service agreements.
• Champion health, safety and zero-harm culture on site.

Keep one of the UK's largest quarries moving.We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to take ownership of maintenance operations at our Mountsorrel Quarry. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll motivate a skilled team, maximise plant performance, and play a key part in delivering safe, reliable and efficient operations.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead and develop a maintenance team, driving engagement and accountability

• Manage breakdown response, defect management and root cause analysis

What we're looking for

• Previous experience as a Maintenance Supervisor, Engineering Supervisor, Maintenance Manager or Engineering Manager within a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of mechanical,pneumaticand hydraulic systems
• Understanding of electrical systems
• Experience leading and developing teams
• Confidence challenging standards and holding teams accountable for quality and delivery
• Strong communicationand problem-solving skills
• Experience with Root Cause Analysis and continuous improvement techniques
• IT literacy, including Microsoft Office applications
• DesirableHNC/HND, recognised apprenticeship or BEng in a relevant engineering discipline
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, FMEA and Continuous Improvement methodologies
