Job summary

Brett Martin Ltd is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our manufacturing site in Newtownabbey. You will perform planned maintenance, repairs and refurbishments to keep plant equipment available and efficient, while driving improvements to reduce downtime.

The role requires a mechanical/mechatronic engineering apprenticeship (HNC or equivalent) and at least two years post-apprenticeship experience in manufacturing. A proactive, safety-focused mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Completed a recognised apprenticeship in mechanical or mechatronic engineering (HNC or equivalent).
• Minimum of 2 years' post-apprenticeship experience in manufacturing.
• Proficient in maintenance of pneumatics, hydraulics, pumps, vacuum systems, drives/gearboxes.

Responsibilities

• Report to Engineering Manager, Mechanical Team Leader and Senior Maintenance Technicians.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy.
• Manage mechanical repairs and breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Fault finding and continuous improvement across site, focusing on critical plant.
• Initiate and modify electrical/mechanical designs; diagnose, repair and test equipment.
• Install new plant and machinery; carry out planned and preventative maintenance.
• Use predictive maintenance techniques to support lean manufacturing.
• Maintain maintenance records and allocate work hours accurately.
• Participate in equipment reliability analysis to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Undertake fabrication, welding, turning, milling tasks as required.
• Support training of new personnel and apprentices.
