Job summary

Our Ayrshire manufacturing client is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to own the maintenance strategy within a busy production area, driving maintenance excellence and asset reliability. You’ll develop and manage PPM schedules, perform preventive maintenance, and resolve mechanical defects in collaboration with Production teams.

This is a Monday to Friday role with a focus on quality, safety and continuous improvement, and offers a clear pathway to advance within a technically advanced facility.

Qualifications

• Completed a mechanical apprenticeship with an HNC in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong background in mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing or production environment.
• Experience developing and managing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes.
• Excellent fault-finding, root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with a proactive approach.
• Focus on quality, safety and continuous improvement.
• Multi-skilled engineering experience would be advantageous.
• Good IT skills and experience maintaining engineering documentation.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical maintenance strategy within your assigned production department to maximise reliability and performance.
• Develop and manage PPM schedules and perform preventative maintenance.
• Resolve mechanical defects and collaborate with Production teams to minimise downtime and improve OEE.
• Support safety initiatives and maintain accurate maintenance records and essential spare parts.
• Contribute to capital projects and continuous improvement activities and help develop maintenance procedures and SOPs.
