Job summary

MTrec Limited is recruiting a permanent Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a prestigious manufacturing client. This role offers a long-term career within a growing engineering business and a dayshift pattern.

You will provide technical engineering support to Operations and Maintenance, lead root cause investigations, develop asset life plans and support shutdowns, major maintenance events and capital projects with a strong emphasis on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' industrial experience in manufacturing or process environments.
• Experience in maintenance and reliability engineering principles.
• Knowledge of rotating equipment, static plant, piping systems and mechanical asset management.
• Experience leading or supporting root cause investigations and reliability improvement activities.
• Understanding of statutory inspection requirements and engineering compliance obligations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical engineering support to Operations and Maintenance teams, ensuring plant issues are resolved safely, efficiently and effectively.
• Lead and support root cause investigations into equipment failures, identifying and implementing sustainable corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Develop, maintain and continuously improve asset life plans for critical plant equipment, identifying repair, replacement and capital investment requirements.
• Provide technical engineering support during shutdowns, outages and major maintenance events
• Develop and review mechanical engineering specifications, repair scopes and technical standards for plant modifications, repairs and capital projects.
• Ensure compliance with statutory inspection requirements and recognised engineering standards for pressure systems, lifting equipment, rotating machinery and other mechanical assets.
• Provide technical input to operational and maintenance processes, including risk assessments, engineering evaluations and problem-solving activities.
• Work closely with Maintenance Supervisors and Technicians to develop effective repair solutions and improve maintenance performance.
• Lead defect elimination and reliability improvement initiatives to increase equipment availability, improve asset performance and reduce lifecycle costs.
• Analyse maintenance and reliability data to identify trends, recurring failures and opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Support the development, implementation and optimisation of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of capital projects, including technical specifications, contractor management, installation and commissioning activities.
• Promote a Right First Time culture, driving high standards of quality, engineering integrity and execution.
• Support contractor management activities, ensuring external providers meet required safety, quality, technical and performance standards.
• Deputise for the Engineering Manager when required, providing technical leadership and supporting effective day-to-day engineering operations.
• Champion company values, process safety principles and safe working practices, maintaining a strong focus on personal and process safety at all times.

About you:

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar.

• Experience leading or supporting root cause investigations and reliability improvement activities.
