Job summary

Aqumen Recruitment is working with an established manufacturing business in Mirfield to recruit an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join its engineering and maintenance team.

You will fault-find and repair production machinery, carry out planned and reactive maintenance, and contribute to continuous improvement in a busy, fast-paced environment. The role operates on a full-time 3-shift pattern, with every third Saturday included, and offers salary up to £49,000 per year.

Qualifications

• Must be apprentice trained in Mechanical Engineering this is an essential requirement.
• Proven experience working as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Fitter or Mechanical Engineer within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding, diagnostic and repair skills.
• Excellent working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical systems.
• Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve machinery faults independently and efficiently.
• Practical experience with mechanical repairs and maintenance, ideally including MIG, TIG or arc welding.
• A proactive approach to health and safety, teamwork and continuous improvement.
• Willingness to work a rotating 3-shift pattern, including every third Saturday.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on production machinery.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical breakdowns quickly and effectively to minimise production downtime.
• Fault finding and maintaining hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems.
• Supporting machinery installations, repairs and engineering improvements.
• Identifying recurring faults and implementing practical solutions to improve equipment reliability.
• Working closely with production teams to prioritise breakdowns and maintain operational efficiency.
• Completing maintenance records and providing clear handovers between shifts.
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing facility.
• Maintaining high standards of health, safety and housekeeping.
