Job summary

Randstad CPE are recruiting a Mechanical Engineer for a leading Facilities Management provider in Staffordshire. You will protect critical mechanical and gas systems to ensure safety, compliance and reliable operation across the site.

This full-time role offers a salary up to £40,000, Monday–Friday, 40 hours, with 25 days’ leave plus bank holidays, a pension, and access to training and development courses. You’ll join a collaborative FM team and engage with external contractors as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on mechanical and gas systems.

• Maintain up-to-date maintenance schedules, compliance records and testing logs.
• Coordinate with a multi-skilled FM team and escort external contractors as needed.
• Adhere to site safety procedures, statutory requirements and local regs.

Randstad C&P are recruiting a Mechanical Engineer on behalf of a leading Facilities Management provider in Staffordshire. In this vital role, you will apply your technical expertise directly where it matters most, ensuring critical mechanical and gas systems remain safe, fully compliant, and operational.

Package

Duties

• Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM), routine mechanical repairs, and gas system testing.
• Troubleshoot complex technical faults and complete prompt defect rectifications on plant and equipment across the site.
• Install new mechanical systems and equipment in strict accordance with specifications and regulatory standards.
• Keep all maintenance schedules, statutory compliance records, and testing logs fully up to date.
• Work collaboratively alongside a multi-skilled FM team and escort external contractors when required.
• Adhere strictly to site safety procedures, statutory requirements, and local regulations at all times.

Requirements

• Recognised Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent trade qualification (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds).
• Strong fault-finding skills, self-motivation, and the ability to manage your workload against tight operational deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills with a customer-focused, collaborative approach.
• Active Gas Safe registration (commercial and domestic experience is highly desirable).
• Authorised Person (AP) qualification, or a willingness to complete training and assessment to achieve AP status.
• Successful completion of an Enhanced DBS check and Occupational Health questionnaire.
