Job Description:

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – FM Service Provider – Hospital - Portsmouth – Up to £39,581 Per annum

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified Mechanical Fitter with C&G / NVQ level 2 & 3 and a proven track record in commercial building maintenance.

He or she will be responsible for assembling machine parts, installing, maintaining, and repairing plant and equipment across a large hospital. Working with the maintenance team on site, including the supervisor, you should have hands-on experience in the following areas:

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Installation and maintenance of Sprinkler Pipe, Air Handling Units, Pumps, steam pipework, heating, air pod dispensaries, plumbing, and heating systems (hot and cold)
• System diagnostics and fault finding (Boiler, AHU, HVAC, Plants, and Components)
• Copper soldering and brazing, PVC/Stainless Steel Pipefitting, threading, and grooving using machines, Mapress/Express crimping equipment
• Repairing malfunctioning machines and structural systems
• Identifying issues and developing plans to ensure system smooth operation
• Maintaining equipment and machinery, developing maintenance routines, understanding component lifespan, and ensuring timely replacements
• Servicing and troubleshooting equipment, replacing faulty components
• Inspecting structures to ensure compliance with legislation

Hours

• Week 1 & 2: Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:15 pm
• Week 3: Monday to Wednesday off; Thursday 12:15 pm - 10 pm; Friday 12 pm - 9 pm; Saturday & Sunday 8 am - 10 pm
• Week 4: Monday to Wednesday 12:15 pm - 10 pm; Thursday to Sunday off

Requirements

• Mechanically qualified at Level 2 (C&G, NVQ, etc.)
• Level 3 qualification (C&G, NVQ, etc.) - desirable
• Experience working in large commercial buildings
• Ability to provide copies of trade certificates (essential)
• Proven track record in commercial building maintenance
• Multi-skilled
• Good communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
