Job summary

A leading engineering firm is seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a contract role based in Port Talbot. The responsibilities include performing planned and reactive maintenance on production and packaging machinery, diagnosing faults, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate must have proven experience in mechanical maintenance within manufacturing and packaging environments, as well as strong fault-finding and mechanical repair skills. This role offers a competitive rate of £40 per hour.

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – Contract Opportunity

Rate: £40 per hour (Inside IR35)

We are currently looking for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a site in Port Talbot on a contract basis.

Responsibilities:

• Carry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance on production and packaging machinery

• Diagnose faults and implement effective repairs to minimise downtime

• Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives across the site

• Work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure safe and efficient operations

• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer within manufacturing, FMCG, or packaging environments

• Strong fault-finding and mechanical repair skills

• Experience with conveyors, packaging lines, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, and pneumatic systems

• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
