Job summary

Questech Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a well-established manufacturing company in Mirfield, West Yorkshire. Salary £47,000 – £49,000 DOE. Permanent role with rotating 3 shifts and every other Saturday.

Working hours are 6am–2pm, 2pm–10pm, or 10pm–6am. The engineer will carry out both preventive and reactive maintenance, troubleshoot faults, and support upgrades while ensuring health and safety standards are met.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as Mechanical Maintenance Engineer in manufacturing/industrial environment.
• Strong fault-finding and breakdown repair skills on production machinery.
• Experience maintaining and repairing production machinery.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, gearboxes and mechanical drive systems.
• Experience performing both planned and reactive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on production machinery.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
• Maintain and repair conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, motors and drive systems.
• Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Identify recurring faults and implement improvements for reliability.
• Support machinery installations, modifications and continuous improvement projects.
• Collaborate with production teams to ensure efficient operation of machinery.
• Ensure maintenance activities comply with health and safety procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance work.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on production machinery.

• Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience working as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and breakdown experience.
• Experience maintaining and repairing production machinery.
• Good knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, gearboxes and mechanical drive systems.
• Experience carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance.
• Relevant engineering qualifications, ideally NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
