Job summary

Aqumen Business Solutions Ltd in Mirfield, West Yorkshire, is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a busy manufacturing site. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance on production machinery, diagnose faults quickly and implement reliability improvements.

This full-time role operates on a 3-shift pattern, with every third Saturday, offering a competitive salary up to £49,000 and opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement and equipment performance.

Qualifications

• Must be apprentice trained in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proven experience as Mechanical Maintenance Engineer in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and repair skills.
• Excellent knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical systems.
• Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs.
• Willingness to work a rotating 3-shift pattern, including every third Saturday.

Responsibilities

The Role – Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring production equipment operates safely, efficiently and reliably.

Working as part of the maintenance team, you'll be responsible for identifying and resolving mechanical faults, reducing downtime and supporting ongoing improvements across the manufacturing operation.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on production machinery.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical breakdowns quickly and effectively to minimise production downtime.
• Fault finding and maintaining hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced,

apprentice-trained Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Mechanial Fitterwith a strong mechanical background and proven experience maintaining production machinery within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Essential requirements:

• Must be apprentice trained in Mechanical Engineering – this is an essential requirement.
• Proven experience working as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Fitter or Mechanical Engineer within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding, diagnostic and repair skills.
• Excellent working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical systems.
• Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve machinery faults independently and efficiently.
• Practical experience with mechanical repairs and maintenance, ideally including MIG, TIG or arc welding.
• A proactive approach to health and safety, teamwork and continuous improvement.
• Willingness to work a rotating 3-shift pattern, including every third Saturday.
