Job summary

Russell Taylor is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for our Knowsley site. The role involves carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on industrial production equipment to improve reliability and reduce downtime.

You will diagnose faults, repair pumps, gearboxes and rotating equipment, and support installation and improvement projects. We expect at least 3 years in mechanical maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing setting, with strong fault-finding skills and knowledge of

Qualifications

• At least 3 years' experience in mechanical maintenance (industrial/manufacturing).
• Experience with pumps, gearboxes, motors and rotating equipment desirable.
• Knowledge of health, safety and safe systems of work required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on production equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and perform repairs.
• Maintain and repair pumps, gearboxes, motors, valves and rotating equipment.
• Work on mechanical drives, bearings, seals and rotating equipment.
• Maintain and install industrial pipework and fittings; welding and fabrication as needed.
• Work on industrial utilities (steam boilers, compressed air) and support installation/modification projects.
• Identify recurring equipment faults and recommend improvements.
• Collaborate with production teams to minimise downtime and ensure safety procedures.

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Salary: Up to £45k depending on experience

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a growing manufacturing facility.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled, hands-on mechanical engineer to join a developing production environment, where you will play an important role in maintaining plant reliability, reducing downtime and supporting continuous improvement.

The Role

As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of industrial production equipment and site services.
Your responsibilities will include:

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
Diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out effective repairs.
Maintaining and repairing pumps, gearboxes, motors, agitators, valves and associated equipment.
Working on mechanical drives, bearings, seals and rotating equipment.
Maintenance and installation of industrial pipework and associated fittings.
Welding, fabrication and general mechanical fitting.
Working on industrial utilities including steam boilers and compressed-air systems.
Supporting equipment installation, modifications and improvement projects.
Identifying recurring equipment failures and recommending improvements.
Working alongside production teams to minimise equipment downtime.
Ensuring all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with site health, safety, quality and hygiene procedures.

About You

At least 3 years' experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably within an industrial, manufacturing, food, chemical or process environment.
Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
Experience maintaining pumps, gearboxes, motors, valves and rotating equipment.
Experience with welding, fabrication and industrial pipework.
Good knowledge of health & safety procedures and safe systems of work.
The ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
