Job summary

EMCOR UK, part of OCS, provides facilities management for the Defence sector. This hands-on role supports Mechanical Engineers with maintenance tasks and requires basic mechanical knowledge. Full training will be provided, with a clear development plan to progress within the team.

Location on-site with Monday-Friday hours. Salary starts at £28,000 plus allowances and overtime, with extensive employee benefits and progression opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Assist Mechanical Engineers and Steam pipefitters with planned and reactive tasks.
• Report repairs observed during duties to Works Supervisor.
• Know generators and water pumps for maintenance of underground services.
• Work independently and follow reporting procedures.
• Clear undergrowth from external steam and condensate pipework and paint pipe supports.
• Escort subcontractors as required to complete activities.
• Maintain good housekeeping and represent EMCOR professionally.
• Comply with line manager requests and safety standards.

Job Purpose A hands‑on role supporting Mechanical Engineers with a range of mechanical maintenance tasks. This role would suit someone with basic mechanical knowledge and experience using hand tools. Full training will be provided with a clear development plan to progress into a more advanced position.

About the role

• Assist Mechanical Engineers and Steam pipefitters with all planned and reactive tasks.
• Ensure any repairs noticed during duties are reported to the Works Supervisor.
• Have knowledge of petrol fuelled generators and water pumps for planned maintenance of underground services.
• Ability to work by themselves and follow reporting procedures set out by line manager/supervisor.
• Carry out clearing of under growth from external steam and condensate pipework across site and painting pipe supports.
• Escorting of sub-contractors/personnel who require escorting in order to complete their activities.
• Ensure good housekeeping and working practices are employed and that you always represent EMCOR in a professional manner.
• Comply with any reasonable request from line manager.
  Proven experience in a technical support role.
• Have a basic understanding of mechanical maintenance processes.
• Strong health and safety knowledge.
• Eligible to obtain high-level security clearance.
• Full UK driving licence.

  Salary: £28,000 + allowances + overtime

Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:45 - 16:30 (16:15 on Fridays) + 9 day fortnight
