Job summary

MBDA in Bolton is seeking a Mechanical Inspector on a full apprenticeship track to join the certification team. You will authorise products per the certification procedure at the Bolton site and work to maintain data records and quality control documentation.

Qualifications

• Electrical/Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Apprenticeship at Advanced Level or L3 Standard.
• Level 3 academic qualification (ONC, diploma, etc.).
• Level 3 vocational qualification (NVQ) seen as acceptable when L3 apprenticeship not held.
• Qualifications must meet the standard to be considered for the role.

Responsibilities

• Certify the product by the product certification procedure and monitor the operators.
• Check assembly quality and inspect parts for finishing defects or surface deterioration.
• Perform intermediate inspections unrelated to certification and inspect for damages.
• Complete manufacturing data packs and maintain defect reports.
• Control defect items and produce inspection/history documentation and audits.
• Use specialised inspection tools and ensure adherence to procedures and times.
• Contribute to process improvement and maintain high workmanship standards.

Mechanical Inspector full apprenticeship required. Our client, a trusted partner of the UK's Ministry of Defence, is seeking a Mechanical Inspector to join the certification team. The role involves authorising products in accordance with the product certification procedure at the Bolton site.

Key Responsibilities:

• Certify the product by the product certification procedure and monitor the operators responsible for product certification.


• Upon inspection, check for proper assembly and inspect all parts for defects in finishing painting or surface deterioration.


• Conduct a thorough inspection for any physical damages and perform intermediate inspection checks unrelated to product certification.


• Complete manufacturing data pack paperwork and maintain data records/defect reports.


• Control defect items via segregation from good products and produce relevant inspection/quality control documentation/history sheets and audits.


• Care for and use specialised inspection tools.


• Ensure compliance with all applicable manufacturing procedures and meet inspection times.


• Possess a versatile skill set and apply it to various tasks while maintaining the highest workmanship standards and product quality. Also, keep good housekeeping policies.


• Willing to contribute to an environment of process improvement.
