Job summary

World Class Defence Organisation in Bolton is seeking a Mechanical Inspector for an initial 12‑month contract. You will certify products, inspect assembly quality, finishes and for damage, and ensure proper documentation and defect control.

The role requires substantial experience inspecting others' work and maintaining safety and high workmanship standards in a defence manufacturing setting. The position is on site in Bolton.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Certify the product in line with the product certification procedure.
• Examine assembly for correctness and finish; detect defects.
• Inspect for physical damage and monitor product certification operators.
• Complete all manufacturing data pack paperwork and defect reports.
• Maintain high workmanship standards and safe working environment.
• Contribute to process improvement.

Job description

World Class Defence Organisation based in Bolton is currently looking to recruit a Mechanical Inspector subcontractor on an initial 12 month contract.

Experience with inspecting the work of other people is essential - not just the inspecting of their own.
Must have had significant recent experience of this - major part of their role.

Hourly Rate: £29.02 rising to £30.38 after 12 weeks. Overtime Rates of 'time and a half' for all hours worked over 37 hours per week.

Contract Duration: 12 Months initially and then ongoing and long-term thereafter.

Mechanical Inspector Job Description:

• Certify the product in line with the product certification procedure
• Examining for correct assembly
• Examining the finish of all parts to detect faulty finishing or painting, deterioration of surfaces etc.
• Inspect for physical damage
• Intermediate inspection checks non product certification
• Monitor product certification operators
• Check and complete all paperwork associated with the manufacturing data pack
• Control defect items via segregation from good product
• Raise and maintain relevant data records/defect reports
• Produce relevant inspection/quality control documentation/history sheets
• Care for and use specialised inspection tools
• Maintain product certification and approval via regular audits
• Ensure compliance with all associated procedures applicable to the manufacturing process
• Ensure inspection times are met
• Possess a versatile skill base with the capability to apply these skills across a range of tasks
• Maintain to the highest level, workmanship standards and product quality
• Maintain a safe working environment
• Maintain a good housekeeping policy
• Willing to contribute to an environment of process improvement.

• Approved Apprenticeship/Apprenticeship Framework/Modern Apprenticeship
• Vocational G or H Units with Further Education, City & Guilds Parts 1, 2 & 3
• Vocational TR23 Units with Further Education, ONC or City & Guilds Parts 1, 2 & 3
• Vocational NVQ3 with Further Education, BTEC ONC/HNC
