Job summary

AFECO is recruiting a Mechanical Fitter to perform planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across water and wastewater assets. You will inspect pumps, gearboxes, valves, and rotating machinery, ensuring reliability and regulatory compliance.

The role involves installations, repairs, and cooperation with engineers during shutdowns and upgrades, with a focus on safety, documentation, and continuous improvement. Based at treatment works and regional sites.

Qualifications

• Recognised mechanical engineering qualification is required.
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or Maintenance Technician.
• Experience in an industrial, utilities, or process-plant environment.
• Confined space training (NC1/NC2) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned, preventive, and reactive mechanical maintenance on water/wastewater assets.
• Repair, overhaul, install and commission mechanical equipment per specs.
• Comply with site safety rules and permit-to-work procedures.
• Support asset optimisation, shutdowns, and project installations.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and contribute to RCA.
