Job summary

AFECO is recruiting a Mechanical Fitter Supervisor to lead a multi-disciplinary team across water treatment facilities in the UK. You will supervise installation, maintenance, inspection and repair of mechanical plant to ensure safe, efficient and reliable asset performance.

The role requires proven supervisory experience, a relevant mechanical engineering qualification and a full UK driving licence, with opportunities to develop within a forward-thinking organisation.

Qualifications

• Recognised mechanical engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds, apprenticeship).
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or Technician within water/wastewater/utilities/heavy industrial sector.
• Previous supervisory or team-leading experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coordinate, and oversee daily activities of mechanical fitters and contractors; allocate tasks and monitor progress.
• Oversee mechanical maintenance of pumps, valves, gearboxes, screens and sludge handling equipment; ensure PPM tasks are completed.
• Enforce safe working practices and ensure compliance with water industry regulations, including LOLER/PUWER and MEICA standards.
• Support asset condition assessments and continuous improvement initiatives; liaise with engineering, operations and projects teams.
• Plan resources, materials and tools; communicate with stakeholders and prepare performance reports.
