Job summary

Vale Europe is recruiting Mechanical Maintenance Technicians for the Mond Nickel Refinery in Clydach, Swansea. This ongoing full-time role offers a starting salary of £37,893 rising to £40,121 after training, with overtime at 1.75x and a 10% annual bonus.

You will perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on pumps, motors, conveyors and other mechanical equipment, work in confined spaces, and participate in an on-call rota.

Qualifications

• Completed a recognised apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering.
• Demonstrable experience in heavy industry or manufacturing environments.
• In-depth knowledge of rotational and mechanical equipment.
• Competent in basic machining operations.
• CCNSG Site Safety Passport is essential.
• Full UK driving licence is required.
• Willingness to work in confined spaces and at height.
• Flexibility to participate in an on-call rota.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled mechanical maintenance.
• Respond to plant breakdowns during normal hours and on-call rota.
• Work with pumps, motors, conveyors, belts and drives.
• Machine basic engineering parts using lathes, milling machines and centre bores.
• Maintain a strong focus on health and safety compliance.
• Wear Breathing Apparatus and work in confined spaces or at height, as required.
