Mechanical Fitter - Rotating Equipment

Our client is a family-run engineering and manufacturing company with clients across a range of industries, including pharmaceutical, petrochemical, steel processing and automotive.
The role offers an excellent balance of workshop and site-based work, with approximately 50% of your time spent in the workshop and 50% working on customer sites. All site work is within approximately 1 hour of Wolverhampton, meaning there is no requirement for extensive nationwide travel or staying away.
As a Mechanical Fitter, your duties will include:
- Mechanical fitting, assembly and maintenance of rotating equipment
- Working on pumps, gearboxes, motors, shafts, bearings and associated components
- Strip-down, inspection, repair and rebuild of rotating machinery
- Interpreting engineering drawings and following technical specifications
- Carrying out mechanical work both within the workshop and on customer sites
- Installation, alignment and commissioning of rotating equipment
- Diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out repairs
- Working safely and efficiently to meet customer requirements and deadlines
- Maintaining a high standard of workmanship and ensuring all work is completed correctly
The ideal experience for this Mechanical Fitter position will be:
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter within an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Strong experience working with rotating equipment
- Experience stripping, rebuilding and maintaining pumps, gearboxes, motors or similar machinery
- Confident using a range of mechanical fitting and workshop tools
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience with mechanical installation and alignment is desirable
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work both in the workshop and on customer sites
- A strong understanding of mechanical engineering and safe working practices
Information for this Mechanical Fitter position:
- Basic salary: £44,000
- Excellent overtime potential - many current employees are earning £60,000-£70,000+
- 50/50 split between workshop and customer site work
- All site work within approximately 1 hour of Wolverhampton
- Site working hours are determined by customer requirements
- Workshop hours: 7:00am - 4:00pm Monday to Thursday
- Friday: 7:00am - 1:00pm
- 31 days holiday
- Overtime paid at time and a half until Saturday midday
- Overtime after Saturday midday paid at double time
- Excellent opportunity for additional earnings through overtime
