Job summary

Tec Partners Recruitment Ltd are supporting an established manufacturer in Newmarket with a Mechanical Fitter role. You will join the production team to assemble, fit and install mechanical components and systems to high standards, reading drawings and working safely on varied projects.

The role offers a salary of £30,000 - £35,000 DOE, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, and long-term career development in a busy workshop environment where teamwork and initiative are valued.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter or similar role.
• Experience working with fabricated steel components.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Strong mechanical assembly skills with attention to detail.
• Proactive attitude; able to work independently and in a team.
• Desirable mechanical engineering qualification or apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fit and install mechanical components and systems from drawings.
• Carry out quality inspections to meet standards.
• Assist with fault finding and resolving issues during assembly.

Mechanical Fitter

Are you a skilled Mechanical Fitter looking to join a growing engineering business with an exciting pipeline of projects?

Our client is expanding following the successful award of several major contracts and is looking to add an experienced Mechanical Fitter to their team in Newmarket. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well‑established manufacturer where you'll work on a variety of interesting mechanical assemblies in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Role

Working as part of the production team, you'll be responsible for assembling, fitting and installing mechanical components and systems to a high standard, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble, fit and install mechanical components and systems from engineering drawings and specifications
• Carry out quality inspections to ensure work meets company and customer standards
• Assist with fault finding and resolving mechanical issues during assembly
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
• Work closely with engineers and production colleagues to deliver projects efficiently
• Maintain a safe, organised and tidy working environment
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop

About You

• Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Assembly Technician or similar role
• Experience working with fabricated steel components
• The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Strong mechanical assembly skills with excellent attention to detail
• A proactive attitude and the ability to work both independently and within a team
• A relevant mechanical engineering qualification or apprenticeship (desirable)
