Job summary

A leading engineering manufacturing company in High Wycombe is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter for a 12-month temporary role, potentially renewable for another 12 months. Responsibilities include precision mechanical assembly, inspection, and repair of small motors. Ideal candidates will have previous experience and an engineering apprenticeship. The pay rate is £20 per hour, with 37 hours of work per week.

Job description

Overview

Mechanical Fitter (temp) required for an immediate start in an engineering manufacturing company in High Wycombe for 12 months, and then ongoing for another 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Precision mechanical assembly of sub-assemblies and finished products.
• Assemble and disassemble precision mechanical assemblies (including heat shrinks, bearings, bushes, sleeves).
• Repair and overhaul activities using a variety of hand tools, air tools, and workshop tools / machinery.
• Component inspection experience using micrometers and verniers.
• The ability to work from engineering drawings is essential.
• Basic computer skills are required as all work is logged on the company system.
• Strip down of small electric motors to bare components, followed by the inspection, refurbishment and re-assembly of motors.

Qualifications & Experience

• Essential: previous experience of precision mechanical fitting, assembly, inspection, and testing.
• Desirable: Engineering Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds Level 3 Qualifications in Engineering.
• Any experience of realignment of small motor drive systems is ideal.

Employment Details

• Temporary role for 12 months, with an expectation to renew for a further 12 months.
• Pay rate: £20 per hour PAYE (or £27/hr Umbrella).
• 37 hours per week.
• Location: High Wycombe.
