The role

As a Mechanical Fitter, you will undertake mechanical fitting activities, repairs, and inspections on systems and equipment across the estate and other sections when required. Your responsibilities include:

1. Completing planned preventative maintenance to meet departmental objectives.
2. Identifying and rectifying system, manufacturing defects, and making alterations.
3. Carrying out work in accordance with current processes and suggesting improvements to increase productivity.
4. Working within all H&S legislation, Safe Systems of Work, and control of work processes per BM&T Clyde policies.

This position involves manual work, including lifting, bending, tool use, and standing for extended periods.

The role is full-time, 36 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, based onsite at HMNB Faslane.

Essential experience

• Mechanical fitting experience
• Knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings
• Experience with pressure systems

Qualifications

• NVQ/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC security clearance. Note that some positions are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions, which may be influenced by nationality, citizenship, and residency history.
