Job description

Job Title: Mechanical Fitter

Location: Heanor, Derbyshire

Salary: 18.00 per hour (Overtime at 1.5x)

Job Type: Contract (June - October) with potential for permanent placement

Shifts: Days - Monday to Friday

Overview:
A well-established engineering company in the Heanor area is currently seeking a Time-Served Mechanical Fitter to join their team for a contract role, with the potential to move into a permanent position. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of engineering tasks in a dynamic, hands-on role.

Key Responsibilities:
- Mechanical fitting of pumps, compressors, conveyors, transmission drives, couplings, gearboxes, fans, etc.
- Conducting inspections to ensure quality standards are met
- Ensuring work is completed efficiently and safely
- Following health and safety protocols and working within company procedures

Requirements:
- City & Guilds or Apprenticeship in Engineering
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar mechanical fitting role
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials properties, and failure mechanisms (stress, fatigue, corrosion)
- Ability to interpret technical engineering drawings
- Proven problem-solving and communication skills
- Knowledge of maintenance practices in the Process and Water Treatment Industry

Preferred Certifications/Training:
Ideally you will have at least some of the following or be willing to get them if required.
- Safety Passport
- EUSR Card
- Manual Handling
- Slinging & Rigging
- Confined Space Entry
- Counterbalance Forklift Truck (FLT)
- IPAF & PASMA
- Overhead Gantry Crane operation

Hours of Work:

Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Friday: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
