Job summary

AJS Asset Care are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our maintenance team at the London-based facility. The role blends planned and reactive maintenance of mechanical systems in heavy industry, with a strong emphasis on safety and reliability.

You will perform precision maintenance, diagnostics, and fault finding, and collaborate with production and engineering to keep equipment available and efficient.

Qualifications

• Experience with RCM-based maintenance in heavy industry.
• Mechanical engineering background or formal qualification required.

Responsibilities

• Execute planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on diverse mechanical systems.
• Perform fault diagnostics, troubleshooting and repair with minimal supervision.
• Support a Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) approach.
• Conduct precision maintenance including shaft alignment, balancing and equipment setup.
• Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety regulations and SOPs.
• Collaborate with maintenance, production and engineering teams to maximise equipment availability.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts usage and system performance.

Job description

AJS Asset Care are currently seeking an experienced and proactive Mechanical Fitter to join our maintenance team at our London-based facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical systems within heavy industry, refineries, or FMCG environments. This is a hands‑on role requiring a blend of planned and reactive maintenance skills, strong fault diagnosis capabilities, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Key Duties Include

• Execute planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on a wide range of mechanical systems and machinery.
• Perform fault diagnostics, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical failures with minimal supervision.
• Support and contribute to a Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) approach.
• Conduct precision maintenance, including precision shaft alignment, balancing, and equipment setup using industry-standard tools and methods.
• Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with Health & Safety regulations, company policies, and standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate effectively with other maintenance team members, production staff, and engineering teams to ensure equipment availability and efficiency.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts usage, and system performance.
