Job summary

Engineering Direct Ltd is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter for our high-care food manufacturing facility. You will carry out general mechanical fitting duties and machinery installations in a fast-paced environment.

Role requires working at heights, moving heavy components, and strict adherence to HACCP, LOTO, and safety rules. Valid IPAF, CSCS, and Telehandler licences are mandatory to perform the role.

Qualifications

• CSCS Card required.
• IPAF Licence: 3a (Mobile Vertical) and 3b (Mobile Boom).
• Telehandler Licence: NPORS or CPCS card.
• Experience in food/FMCG environments desirable.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

• General Fitting Duties: Repair, overhaul, and install mechanical components including conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, valves, and pneumatics.
• Operate telehandler to transport heavy components and use MEWPs for high-level maintenance.
• Maintain HACCP hygiene standards and prevent contamination during engineering work.
• Follow site safety rules including LOTO and height-permit procedures.

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Mechanical Fitter to join our engineering team within our high-care food manufacturing facility. In this role, you will carry out general mechanical fitting duties and machinery installations.

Because you will be working at heights and moving heavy machinery components, a valid IPAF license, CSCS card, and Telehandler license are mandatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• General Fitting Duties: Repair, overhaul, and install mechanical components, including conveyor systems, pumps, gearboxes, valves, and pneumatic systems.
• Specialised Equipment Operation: Safely operate a telehandler to transport heavy machinery components and utilize mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) for high-level maintenance.
• Hygiene & Food Safety: Maintain strict compliance with food safety standards (HACCP) and ensure all engineering work is conducted in a clean, hygienic manner that prevents product contamination.
• Health & Safety: Adhere to strict site safety rules, including Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures and working-at-height permits.

Requirements & Qualifications

Essential Certification

• CSCS Card: Valid card demonstrating site safety awareness.
• IPAF Licence: Categories 3a (Mobile Vertical) and 3b (Mobile Boom).
• Telehandler Licence: Valid NPORS or CPCS card for telescopic handlers.

Experience & Skills

• Proven experience working as a Mechanical Fitter
• Prior experience within a food, beverage, FMCG, or pharmaceutical environment is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of conveyors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and pipework.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical technical drawings.
• Understanding of food hygiene standards and high-care factory requirements.

Working Conditions

• Working within a fast-paced food production facility.
• Environments may vary between high-care cleanrooms, ambient areas, and cold storage.
• Working at heights and confined spaces.

Working Monday - Friday, 11 hours per day.
