Job summary

Landmarc Support Services is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to perform maintenance, repair and fabrication tasks across assets, vehicles, buildings and equipment at RAF Spadeadam. You will ensure safety, reliability and optimal operation of estate assets in demanding environments.

The role requires a Level 3 qualification, driving licence, and strong health & safety knowledge. You will contribute to documentation, mentor trainees, and may operate specialist plant machinery as needed.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in a relevant field with experience.
• Full UK driving licence (Category C desirable).
• Solid understanding of health & safety practices.
• Knowledge of plant machinery and generators.
• IT proficiency for documentation and reports.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs, maintenance, and inspections on engines and equipment.
• Carry out diagnostic work to identify faults.
• Use and maintain tools and equipment safely.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and remedial repairs, including working at height or in confined spaces.
• Complete documentation using IT and paper-based systems.
• Communicate with stakeholders to ensure smooth site operations.
• Mentor apprentices and trainees.
• Undertake driving tasks as required.

Salary: £35,053.49
Contract: Permanent
Location: RAF Spadeadam, Gilsland, Brampton, Cumbria, CA8 7A
Hours:Mon - Thurs 07:50 – 17:00, Fri 07:50 – 16:10 (40 hrs p/w)

What You’ll Do

• Perform repairs, maintenance, and inspections on engines, gearboxes, brakes, suspension systems, and other equipment.
• Carry out diagnostic work and fault-finding to identify and resolve issues efficiently
• Use and maintain tools, machinery, and company equipment safely and effectively
• Conduct preventative maintenance and remedial repairs, including working at height or in confined spaces when required
• Complete all documentation accurately using both IT and paper-based systems
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders, contractors, and asset users to ensure smooth site operations.
• Provide mentorship and support to apprentices or trainees
• Undertake driving tasks, including operating specialist plant machinery if required.

What We’re Looking For

• Level 3 qualification in a relevant field (e.g., City & Guilds, ONC, NVQ) or equivalent, with relevant experience.
• Full UK driving licence (Category C desirable)
• Solid understanding of health & safety practices, including COSHH, manual handling, risk assessments, and safe systems of work
• Knowledge of specialist equipment (e.g., plant machinery and generators)
• IT proficiency to complete documentation and reports
• Ability to operate and maintain tools and equipment effectively
• Excellent communication skills and experience dealing with customers
• Willingness to undertake training for high-risk environments (e.g., working at height or in confined spaces)
