Job summary

United Utilities is seeking a Mechanical Field Service Engineer to deliver expert maintenance and technical support across a defined region. You will work on mechanically powered sites, including anaerobic digestion and dewatering plants, with a strong emphasis on safety and energy efficiency.

The role involves hands-on work, flexibility for out-of-hours standby, and opportunities to grow into flexi-skilled engineering.

Qualifications

  • Time served apprentice or equivalent with NVQ level 3.
  • Full UK driving license required.
  • Industry experience in mechanical maintenance.
  • Ability to work in a team but also alone, and in confined spaces.
  • Willingness to diversify into specialised areas such as chlorine gas systems.
  • Diagnostic, organisational, planning, communication and computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across multiple sites.
  • Act as the Person Controlling the Works (PCW) for mechanical activities by framework contractors.
  • Collaborate with Process Controller to support telemetry and asset performance.
  • Maintain accurate mechanical asset data and maintenance records.
  • Support environmental compliance by ensuring assets meet regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate and support contractors during mechanical project delivery or site interventions.
