Job summary

SSA Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Estimator for a specialist contractor based in Essex. You will prepare detailed mechanical estimates from drawings and specifications, performing accurate take-offs and cost analysis, and collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to secure bids.

You will review tender requirements, identify risks and opportunities, and help prepare clear tender submissions for submission and handover to delivery teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years mechanical estimating experience within M&E or mechanical contracting.
• Strong understanding of mechanical building services including HVAC, heating, ventilation and plumbing.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
• Ability to prepare accurate take-offs and competitive tender submissions.
• Experience obtaining and comparing supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Strong numerical, communication and organisational skills.
• A relevant mechanical or building services qualification, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed mechanical estimates from drawings, specifications and tender documents.
• Complete quantity take-offs and calculate labour, material and subcontractor costs.
• Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Review tender requirements, identifying risks, exclusions and opportunities.
• Prepare tender submissions, clearly outlining pricing assumptions and clarifications.
• Attend tender review meetings and support handovers to project delivery teams.
