Job summary

NMS Recruit Ltd t/a Russell Taylor Group is recruiting an experienced Mechanical Estimator for a Manchester-based role with an established M&E contractor. You will price from drawings and specifications, and work on Design & Build projects while managing tenders.

The position is permanent with a competitive salary package dependent on experience, offering the chance to lead tender submissions and contribute significantly to project success.

Responsibilities

Mechanical Estimator - Permanent
Manchester | Permanent | Competitive Salary Package

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join an established M&E contractor based in Manchester.

The majority of the company's workload is accommodation-based projects, although the successful candidate will also need to be flexible and confident pricing a variety of other schemes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Mechanical Estimator with strong technical knowledge and experience in Design & Build projects, who can produce accurate, comprehensive and competitive tenders from both developed and partially developed designs.

The Role

• Prepare detailed and competitive mechanical estimates for a range of projects.
• Price Design & Build projects from specifications, drawings and tender documentation.
• Produce comprehensive tenders from blank or partially developed drawings.
• Review designs, identify gaps and establish what additional information is required.
• Develop incomplete designs into fully costed mechanical packages.
• Calculate costs for labour, materials, plant and subcontractor works.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities and potential value engineering solutions.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers and internal project teams.
• Ensure tenders are completed accurately and submitted within agreed deadlines.

About You

We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the M&E / building services sector.
• Strong experience pricing Design & Build projects.
• The ability to price from specifications, detailed drawings and blank or incomplete designs.
• Confidence identifying design gaps, making reasonable assumptions and building up a comprehensive cost.
• Experience working on accommodation-based projects, with the flexibility to price other types of schemes.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical building services, including HVAC, heating, ventilation, pipework and plumbing.
• Excellent commercial awareness, attention to detail and analytical skills.
• The ability to manage multiple tenders and work to tight deadlines.
