Job summary

Emtec Group is seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our pre-construction team. You’ll own mechanical estimating from early design through to tender submission, collaborating with pre-construction, commercial and delivery teams to produce accurate, competitive costs for live projects.

The role can be based at our Glasgow (Uddingston), Edinburgh or Dundee offices, supporting bids across commercial, industrial, and public sector sectors.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Mechanical Estimator role within an M&E / Building Services environment.
• Strong ability to produce accurate mechanical cost estimates.
• Confident reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
• Solid knowledge of mechanical installations and construction methods.
• Experience evaluating subcontractor and supplier bids.
• Skilled in producing project budgets, cost plans, and tender breakdowns.
• Proficient in estimating software (e.g. Trimble or similar).

Responsibilities

• Apply technical expertise to deliver high-quality submissions.
• Propose ideas and solutions to support business development.

Emtec Building Services is strengthening its pre-construction team as new projects mobilise and our secured pipeline of work continues to grow across the region. As part of this continued expansion, we’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our team.

This is a key role where you’ll take ownership of mechanical estimating from early design and pre-construction through to tender submission. Working closely with pre-construction, commercial and delivery teams, you’ll produce accurate, competitive cost estimates, engage with the supply chain, and support the successful conversion of opportunities into live projects, playing an important part in shaping our expanding presence in the area.

Emtec Building Services is a leading M&E contractor delivering end-to-end mechanical and electrical solutions across commercial, industrial, and public sector projects, from early design and pre-construction through to installation, commissioning, and ongoing support.

The Role

As Mechanical Estimator, you’ll play a crucial role within our pre-construction team supporting business development and tender activity by preparing accurate, competitive, and well-considered Mechanical estimates that underpin successful project delivery and sustainable growth.

This role can be based at our Glasgow (Uddingston), Edinburgh or Dundee office.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Supporting the approvals process and ensuring all estimates align with company procedures.
• Preparing detailed, analytical mechanical cost estimates within agreed timescales.

What You’ll Bring

• Previous experience in a similar Mechanical Estimator role within an M&E / Building Services environment.
• Strong ability to produce accurate and detailed mechanical services cost estimates.
• Confident reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
• Solid knowledge of mechanical installations and construction methods.
