Job summary

Leading MEP contractor in the UK is seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join the pre-construction team. You will work on major £10m–£15m M&E projects and help develop competitive tenders.

The role requires strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services, pricing experience, and excellent communication to liaise with clients and subcontractors. This is a long-term career opportunity within a growing contractor.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within MEP contracting.
• Experience pricing significant commercial projects (£10m–£15m).
• Strong ability to analyse drawings, specs and tender documents.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed mechanical estimates and tenders for major projects.
• Price mechanical packages on £10m–£15m schemes.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation to ensure accurate BOQs and cost plans.
• Obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Identify and communicate commercial risks and opportunities.
• Attend tender meetings and site visits when required.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers to secure information.
• Collaborate with pre-construction and project delivery teams.
• Support the development of competitive and robust tenders.
• Manage multiple tenders and deadlines effectively.

We are working with a leading MEP contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join their pre-construction team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Estimator looking to work on major £10m–£15m M&E projects, with a strong pipeline of upcoming work and excellent long-term progression opportunities.

The Role

• Preparing detailed mechanical estimates and tenders
• Pricing mechanical packages for projects valued at £10m–£15m
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation
• Preparing accurate bills of quantities and cost plans
• Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotationsIdentifying commercial risks and opportunities
• Attending tender meetings and site visits where required
• Liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers
• Working closely with the pre-construction and project delivery teams
• Supporting the development of competitive and commercially robust tenders
• Managing multiple tenders and deadlines effectively

About You

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator
• Strong experience working for an MEP / M&E contractor
• Experience pricing significant commercial projects
• Ideally experienced with projects in the £10m–£15m range
• Strong technical understanding of mechanical building services
• Excellent knowledge of mechanical packages, suppliers and subcontractors
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
• Confident analysing drawings, specifications and tender documents
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
