Job summary

Formula 1 is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technical Author to join our Mechanical Engineering & Design team. You will deliver high-quality documentation, collaborate with engineers, and ensure governance and compliance across design and build activities.

You will maintain document control, update legacy content, and support audits and design reviews while working closely with manufacturing and quality teams at Biggin Hill. A strong emphasis on accuracy and confidentiality is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in creating and maintaining technical documents.
• Familiarity with revision control and workflows.
• Knowledge of design documentation standards and governance.

Responsibilities

• Develop, author and maintain mechanical engineering documentation (design reports, specs, work instructions).
• Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to gather and translate technical content.
• Manage document control: versions, traceability, change records and approvals.
• Prepare documentation packs and status reports for design reviews and audits.
• Update legacy documents to reflect changes and lessons learned.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, quality and supply chain to support build and inspection.
• Maintain document registers and progress trackers across engineering workstreams.
• Ensure documentation meets high standards of accuracy, confidentiality and timeliness.
