Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience leading an engineering or design team.
• Strong background in mechanical engineering and design.
• Ability to manage a team of ~15 engineers.
• Hands-on experience in engineering or manufacturing.
• Ability to review designs and provide technical direction.
• Experience managing performance and development discussions.
• Strong planning, resource management and project delivery skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
• Understanding of engineering control and quality procedures.
• Experience with ISO 9001 or external audits.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop a team of ~15 engineers.
• Oversee workloads, priorities, resource allocation and schedules.
• Hold regular one-to-one meetings and performance reviews.
• Assist recruitment, onboarding, training and succession planning.
• Coach engineers and support career progression.
• Set departmental objectives and maintain accountability.
• Ensure deliverables meet client specs and regulatory standards.
• Review mechanical designs and guide technical decisions.
• Manage technical queries and maintain engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, clients and other stakeholders.
• Conform designs to client specifications and regulations.
• Prepare risk assessments and engineering documentation.
• Maintain engineering control procedures and support audits.
• Contribute to continual improvement of the company’s Quality Management System.
