Critical Services Mechanical Engineering Manager

A global leader in the property & real estate market, serving sectors including managing agents, healthcare, and critical engineering, seeks an experienced Mechanical bias engineering / technical services manager. The role is based at their London HQ for a high-profile North American trading organization with offices across US, UK & EMEA. The successful candidate will manage HVAC and critical engineering services within the building, supporting a multi-skilled engineering team and FM operations.

The salary guideline is circa £80-90,000, plus a package including a car allowance of £5,000 and a discretionary annual bonus of up to 20%, healthcare, pension scheme, etc.

Candidates must be fully qualified in mechanical engineering or air conditioning, ideally through a full apprenticeship within commercial building services. A minimum of 5+ years experience as an engineering manager in similar critical environments (Banking / Data Centre) or demanding corporate HQ is required.

Additional qualifications desired include AP status for HVAC systems (Water, Lifts, Pressure Systems, High/Low Voltage), ILM, NEBOSH/IOSH memberships, or other professional memberships.

Working system knowledge should include:

  • HVAC systems including Water, Lifts, Pressure Systems, and Electrical systems.

Day-to-day duties will include:

  • Managing technical issues across the building.
  • Overseeing KPIs and SLAs.
  • Managing health & safety and environmental performance.
  • Planning and implementing building shutdowns and client projects.
  • Ensuring quality procedures are followed.
  • Recruiting and developing staff, including conducting annual appraisals.
  • Managing client relationships and reports.
  • Overseeing permit systems.
