Job summary

Dovetail & Slate Ltd in the West Midlands is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Lecturer for a temporary contract starting 2 November 2026. You will deliver engaging teaching across mechanical engineering programmes, blending classroom theory with hands-on workshop sessions to build industry-ready skills.

Industry experience is valued over prior teaching but support will be provided to develop as an educator, with a strong mechanical engineering background and commitment to learner success.

Qualifications

• A Level 3 qualification in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline, or equivalent.
• Relevant industry experience within an engineering environment.
• A passion for sharing your knowledge and supporting learner success.

Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering mechanical engineering lessons across theory and practical settings.

About the Role

We are working with a further education provider in the West Midlands who is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Lecturer to join their team, with the role starting from 2 November 2026.

You'll deliver engaging teaching across mechanical engineering programmes, combining classroom theory with hands-on workshop sessions so learners build the skills, knowledge and confidence the industry expects.

If you come from industry rather than teaching, that is welcome. Our client can offer the support you'll need to develop as an educator, so a strong mechanical engineering background matters more than prior classroom experience.

Your responsibilities will include:
