At Clarus Education, we are working with an FE College who are seeking to appoint a FE Mechanical Engineering Lecturer, based at Uxbridge Campus.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic individual with a background in Mechanical Engineering and practical workshop skills to teach across a range of programmes to our vocational learners, mainly aged between 16 and 19 years old. You would teach across a range ofprogrammes at levels 1, 2 and 3 in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on practical skills, such as bench work, lathes, milling, CNC, welding, projects, and engineering maintenance across different awarding bodies such as Pearson, EAL and City & Guilds.
You will need to be qualified to Level 3 in a relevant subject area with practical mechanical engineering workshop experience.
You will have some teaching/training experience within the subject area and the ability to engage and inspire young vocational learners aged 16-19.
Practical experience of lathes, milling machines and other workshop equipment is an essential requirement for this post.
If you do not already possess an advanced level teaching qualification, the FE College will support you to achieve this.
All lecturers have a generic list of duties (see below). Duties specific to the Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering include: -
Person Specification:
*Minimum of Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related subject
*An advanced level teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector (e.g. DET, PGCE) ** or willing to work towards a Level 5 teaching qualification, supported by the College
* Assessor qualification or willingness to undertake one
*Must have experience of teaching in the Mechanical Engineering area
*Must have experience working in the Mechanical Engineering industry setting is desirable
*Experience in delivering practical mechanical engineering workshops using bench work, lathes, milling machines, CNC, welding, projects, engineering maintenance, etc
* Evidence of delivering high rates of student attendance, retention and achievement, including details of the methods you have used to achieve this
* The ability to engage and inspire vocational learners aged 16-19
* Up-to-date knowledge of Mechanical Engineering and evidence of continuing professional development
* Ability to take on course leadership responsibilities
