Overview

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking an Engineering Lecturer (Milling & Turning) on behalf of one of our clients. Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.

Duties and Responsibilities for the Engineering Lecturer (Milling & Turning):

  1. To enable learners to succeed on their learning programmes by providing high quality teaching and support.
  2. Plan, deliver, assess and evaluate high quality learning opportunities which meet target levels of learner retention, achievement and success.
  3. To support, contribute to and take personal responsibility for implementing the College’s commitment to Equality and Diversity.
  4. Prepare suitable learning materials using both paper and ILT.
  5. Maintain a course file, keep records as appropriate, monitor and meet additional support needs.
  6. Access and utilise main college systems for supporting course management.
  7. Keep up-to-date with syllabus and employer requirements.
  8. Use a range of appropriate delivery methods for the group; integrate functional skills and provide opportunities to extend all learners.
  9. Adjust teaching methods to meet the needs of different groups.
  10. Promote equality and diversity within the curriculum and meet the needs of individuals.
  11. Liaise with technicians, LSAs, assessors and other lecturers to maximise effective delivery.
  12. Plan or supply appropriate assessment opportunities, both informal and formal.
  13. Liaise with others regarding exam entry requirements.
  14. Give feedback as appropriate to learners, parents, employers, partner schools.
  15. Supply information as required.
  16. Deliver the core tutorial curriculum.
  17. Enable individual learners to compile, own and complete an individual learning plan demonstrating personalised learning.
  18. Make referrals as appropriate, access enrichment and support learners to complete the programme and maximise the learning experience.
  19. Evaluate and improve on lessons delivered.
  20. Listen to and act on learner feedback.
  21. Pursue actions arising from teaching observation outcomes and annual appraisals.
  22. Develop and compile self assessment reports.
  23. Take part in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  24. Attend course and team meetings.
  25. Gain and maintain a license to practice.
  26. Contribute to course and programme area marketing and administration.
  27. Support, and work towards, the achievement of college strategic objectives.

Skills & Qualifications for the Engineering Lecturer (Milling & Turning):

  1. Qualified to degree level or equivalent in an appropriate subject.
  2. Qualified Teacher (or for exceptional candidate, willing to qualify).
  3. Passionate about subject area.
  4. Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding/Child Protection issues relevant to the post.
  5. Level 2 or equivalent in literacy (or willing to qualify).
  6. Level 2 or equivalent in numeracy (or willing to qualify).
  7. Experience of teaching curriculum area.
  8. Excellent teaching skills.
  9. Ability to relate to diverse teaching groups.
  10. Skills relevant to tutorial/pastoral support.
  11. Commitment to learner success.

Desirable for the Engineering Lecturer (Milling & Turning):

  1. BTEC Lead Internal Verifier.
  2. Level 2 or equivalent in IT (or willing to qualify).
  3. Experience of teaching within a post 16 setting.
  4. Relevant links with employers.

Location: Abingdon

Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per annum
