Job Description

Are you ready to shape the future of water infrastructure? We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Water Solutions team, with flexibility to be based in St Albans, Croydon, Basingstoke, Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, or Plymouth.

You will be involved in delivering multi-billion-pound capital programmes across the UK water sector, contributing to projects from small rural sites to complex infrastructure schemes in water and wastewater. These long-term frameworks extend through AMP8 and AMP9.

Key Programmes You’ll Support:
  • Southern Water – £3.7 billion Capital Delivery Programme: Supporting Tier 1 Contractors on non-infrastructure water and wastewater projects, and delivering high-quality infrastructure projects.
  • South West Water – Engineering Consultancy Services Framework: Multi-Discipline Engineering Design.
  • Wessex Water – Capital Delivery Partner Framework: Design Consultancy services.

You will collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, contributing to projects from inception to delivery, enhancing communities and the environment.

Responsibilities include:
  • Feasibility studies, design, and construction support.
  • Producing design drawings, mechanical plant specifications, and liaising with teams nationwide.
  • Designing mechanical installations such as pumps, screens, valves, and odour control systems.
  • Site surveys, client and contractor liaison, and producing technical documents like P&IDs and equipment schedules.
  • Performing headloss calculations and pump system analysis.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Progress towards Chartered Engineer status (e.g., IMechE).
  • Experience in delivering water and wastewater engineering designs.
