Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Mechanical Engineer – Utilities and Drainage to oversee mechanical utility systems on a Roads and Infrastructure Project in Doha, Qatar. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, at least 7 years of experience, and strong knowledge of utility systems. Responsibilities include supervising installations, reviewing contractor submissions, and ensuring compliance with technical specifications.

Qualifications

AtkinsRéalis is hiring a qualified and technically skilled Mechanical Engineer – Utilities and Drainage to supervise and coordinate the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical utility systems on a Roads and Infrastructure Project. The scope includes works related to sewage pump stations, pressure mains, valve chambers, TSE networks, and associated mechanical equipment as per client's standards.

This role requires at least 7 years of post-graduate experience, including 5 years in mechanical supervision roles on utilities and drainage infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise installation of mechanical components within pumping stations, valve chambers, and associated wet utility infrastructure.
  • Review contractor submissions including method statements, shop drawings, material approvals, and hydraulic calculations.
  • Monitor site works related to pressurized pipelines (e.g., TSE, foul sewer rising mains), valve installations, and mechanical fittings.
  • Witness testing and commissioning procedures such as pressure tests, valve operations, pump alignment, and equipment functional testing.
  • Ensure compliance with Ashghal technical specifications, project drawings, and QCS standards.
  • Coordinate interfaces between mechanical works and civil, electrical, and control systems.
  • Report on construction progress, non-conformities, and corrective measures.
  • Participate in inspections with the QA/QC Engineer and authorities, and support as-built validation and DLP handover documentation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 7 years total experience, with at least 5 in similar projects in Qatar.
  • Grade A UPDA is mandatory.
  • Proven experience in Qatar.
  • Excellent command of English (spoken and written).
  • Familiar with document management systems, MS Office, AutoCAD (viewing), and site-related software.
