Job summary

SLB Cambridge Research is offering a Mechanical Engineer Intern (12 months) starting Summer 2027. You will join a multidisciplinary team to study rock cutting mechanics, applying an FEA model to simulate rock cutting and comparing numerical results with experimental data.

The role provides hands-on experience in laboratory experiments, data interpretation, technical reporting, and presenting findings to stakeholders, with opportunities to contribute to feature development for the FEA model.

Qualifications

• Studying a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.
• Data processing and analysis (MATLAB).
• Finite element modelling (ANSYS or ABAQUS).
• Good communication skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct laboratory experiments, analyze and interpret results, and document findings in a technical report.
• Present project outcomes and recommendations to the research centre and key stakeholders.
• Work closely with experienced researchers while progressively taking ownership of project direction and experimental planning.
• Explore complementary areas of interest, such as modelling, design, or data analysis, where relevant to the project.
