Job summary

Automata is seeking a CAD design engineer to join our hybrid team for a 6-week contract, starting immediately. You will refine supplier CAD designs in OnShape, prepare assets for PLM migration, and ensure metadata, materials, and masses are accurate to support reliable manufacturing

You will contribute to a fast-moving automation platform used across life sciences, collaborating with engineers to deliver precise, scalable solutions with attention to detail and ownership.

Qualifications

• Proficient OnShape user with hands-on design experience.
• Two+ years of mechanical design experience.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Review and update supplier CAD designs to meet standards.
• Prepare designs for migration to the PLM tool.
• Ensure CAD metadata is complete, including materials and masses.
• Align and develop a supporting instrument database.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

Reviewing and updating existing supplier CAD designs in OnShape to meet company standards and prepare them for migration to a PLM tool. Specifically:

• Updating supplier CAD designs to workable states, including the required accessories and configurations
• Ensuring the completeness and accuracy of CAD metadata, including materials and masses
• Aligning and developing a supporting instrument database
• Migrating designs to the PLM tool

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Proficient OnShape user
• More than two years’ mechanical design experience
• Strong attention to detail
