Job summary

Smart Managed Solutions is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer for a high-profile contract in South Kensington, London. The role runs Monday to Friday, 08:00-17:00, focusing on keeping environmental conditions and critical building systems maintained to high standards.

You will perform PPM, reactive and breakdown work on HVAC, hot & cold-water systems and generators, with basic electrical knowledge desirable.

Qualifications

• Formally trained in mechanical engineering with HVAC or plumbing.
• 2+ years of experience in a similar mechanical engineering role.
• Experience with building services and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on all mechanical plant.
• Perform reactive and breakdown tasks and identify improvement opportunities.
• Submit all paperwork for reactive and breakdown tasks and meet KPI/SLA requirements.
• Maintain professional relations with colleagues, subcontractors and client representatives.
• Ensure plant rooms remain locked, clean and tidy.
• Supervise and monitor subcontractors on site.
• Comply with Permit to Work, safety procedures and client requirements; promote safe practices.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our high-profile contract in South Kensington. This is a Monday-Friday position working 08:00-17:00.

Purpose

As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll be responsible for ensuring all environmental conditions and critical building systems are maintained to the highest standard.

You will carry out PPM, reactive and breakdown work on all mechanical systems, with knowledge of HVAC, hot & cold-water systems and generators, and the ability to fault-find using graphical and alarm data. Basic electrical knowledge is desirable.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure that routine PPM is carried out to all mechanical plant in accordance with site task schedules and asset lists
• Ensure that reactive tasks throughout the building are completed and be proactive in highlighting areas where improvements can be made. These reactive calls to also include concessionary stores and fabric related items
• Complete and submit all paperwork for reactive and breakdown tasks and ensure compliance with contractual KPI’s/SLA’s
• Maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, subcontractors and client representatives and ensure professional image of Smart Managed Solutions
• Ensure that all plant rooms are always locked and are kept clean and tidy
• Supervise and monitor sub-contractors works whilst they are on site
• Ensure compliance with Permit to Work, safety procedures, and client requirements; promote safe practices with correct PPE and follow Method Statements and Risk Assessments.

Education And Training

• Formally trained in a mechanical engineering discipline (e.g. HVAC, Plumbing) to City and Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 2
• 2 + years’ experience in a similar role
