Job summary

Randstad CPE is seeking a reliable Mechanical Technician to ensure high standards of safety, quality and compliance across client facilities. Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor, you will deliver planned and responsive maintenance, supporting smooth site operations.

Based in Billingham, the role offers a full-time, 37.5-hour week, with 33 days holiday and a generous pension. You will work with various systems and collaborate with contractors to maintain service continuity.

Qualifications

• NVQ or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in a comparable mechanical maintenance role.
• Proficient practical repair and maintenance abilities.
• Good IT and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Willingness to work flexible hours to ensure service continuity.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Respond swiftly to plant and equipment failures to reduce downtime.
• Execute scheduled preventative maintenance according to daily, weekly, and annual plans.
• Maintain compliance and site operations across key systems, including Pressure & Steam Systems, Bottled & Piped Gas Systems, Domestic Water & HVAC, BMS Management, LEV Testing, Lifts (LOLER), Industrial & Automatic Doors, and Asbestos Management.
• Uphold a robust safety culture and ensure that all tasks are performed safely.
• Collaborate with sub-contractors and team members.
• Issue and accept site Permits to Work, while overseeing operations to ensure compliance with Site SHE systems.

The Package:

• Salary: Competitive salary of £35,000 - £37,000 per annum
• Working Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
• 8.30am - 4pm, Monday to Friday
• 33 days annual holidays
• Generous company pension scheme
• No weekend work

Key responsibilities include:

• Respond swiftly to plant and equipment failures to reduce downtime.
• Execute scheduled preventative maintenance according to daily, weekly, and annual plans.

Experience and Qualifications:

• Proficient practical abilities in various repair and maintenance activities.
• Effective communication skills and proficient in IT.
• Capable of working effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team with strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
• A readiness to work flexibly, including outside of standard hours when necessary to ensure service continuity.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, processes, and safety protocols.
