Job summary

C Cheltenham Borough Council is recruiting a Mechanical and Electrical Surveyor to support the management of housing assets in Cheltenham. The role focuses on inspections and contributing to maintenance programmes for mechanical and electrical installations in homes and communal areas, ensuring safety and value.

You will work to maintain compliance with electrical safety, fire safety and gas regulations, while liaising with residents and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
• Strong organisational and project management abilities with proficiency in asset management systems and Microsoft Office.
• Hold an HNC or HND qualification or equivalent in Building Services, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage planned and cyclical maintenance programmes for mechanical and electrical assets.
• Prepare specifications, tender documents, and manage procurement processes in line with council policies.
• Oversee contractors and ensure works are delivered to standards, budgets and KPIs.
• Ensure compliance with legislation and standards including NICEIC, Gas Safe, and Health and Safety.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, works, and asset condition.
• Contribute to asset management strategies and long-term investment planning.
