Job summary

Ernest Gordon Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Design Technician for an industrial machinery specialist in Middlesbrough. The role focuses on producing detailed 2D CAD drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and SolidWorks, supporting prototyping, assembly and testing of bespoke components.

You will work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet customer specifications, review drawings for accuracy, and liaise with suppliers.

Qualifications

• Experience using AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
• Background in industrial machinery design.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed 2D CAD drawings and 3D models for precision-engineered components and mechanical assemblies.
• Work closely with manufacturing and production teams to ensure designs meet customer specifications.
• Review technical drawings, dimensions and tolerances to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Follow shift hours: Mon–Thu 08:00–16:45, Fri 08:00–13:30.

Are you a Design Technician, from an industrial machinery background, looking to join a specialist precision engineering company that can offer career progression and an early Friday finish?

This company specialises in the design and manufacturing of bespoke engineered components, specialist machinery and provide panel building solutions. They mainly supply into the industrial and heavy machinery sectors.

The successful candidates will be producing 2D/3D CAD designs using SolidWorks and AutoCAD. You will participate in the prototyping, assembly/ testing of machinery and liaise with suppliers and vendors regarding specialist components.

This role would suit a Design professional, from an industrial machinery background, who is now looking for an exciting opportunity to join a specialist company that can offer an enhanced benefits package.

The Role

• Produce detailed 2D CAD drawings and 3D models for precision-engineered components and mechanical assemblies
• Work closely with manufacturing and production teams to ensure designs are in line with customer specifications
• Review technical drawings, dimensions and tolerances to ensure accuracy and quality
• Monday – Thursday (08:00 – 16:45), Friday (08:00 – 13:30)
