Job summary

FoodEng Recruitment is recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer for a well-established engineering company in the UK. The role involves creating 2D and 3D drawings, selecting materials, and estimating manufacturing costs for bespoke machinery and systems.

You will design for CNC manufacturing, ensure geometric tolerances are met, and work with customers and sales teams to capture exact requirements. Occasional site visits may be required, including overseas travel.

Qualifications

• At least 18 months experience using 2D/3D design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Vault, Inventor).
• Excellent attention to detail and solid understanding of geometrical tolerances.
• Experience in designing high value capital equipment and components.

Responsibilities

• Produce 2D & 3D drawings meeting technical specifications.
• Calculate geometric tolerances for components and assemblies.
• Liaise with customers and Project Sales Teams to identify exact requirements for bespoke projects.
• Select materials and estimate costs for machine manufacture.
• Design for CNC manufacture and address design flaws with manufacturing team for pre-production prototypes.
• Design a wide range of machinery and systems including handling systems, conveyors, precision components, cutting machinery, ultrasonic systems.
• Occasional site visits to supervise installations, with potential overseas travel.

Mechanical Design Engineer

£42,000 - £52,000 per annum + Overtime + Bonus

A well-established Engineering company based at a modern office and factory, boasting a customer base that includes leading businesses within a variety of sectors: Consumer Products, Scientific, Medical Products, Defence, Space Exploration.

This business has developed an envious reputation for providing market-leading Machinery and continues to innovate and supply best in class Machinery and Systems, operating within the Precision Engineering sector. Due to continued growth they are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer.

The Role:

The appointed Mechanical Design Engineer will:

• Produce 2D & 3D Drawings that meet technical product specification standards.
• Calculate geometric tolerances.
• As each project is bespoke, the Mechanical Design Engineer will liaise with customers directly and through the Project Sales Teams to identify exact requirements.
• The Mechanical Design Engineer will also be responsible for material selection, estimating costs for machine manufacture.
• Design for CNC manufacture.
• Correct highlighted flaws in designs and communicate with the manufacturing team to engineer pre-production prototypes.
• Design a wide variety of machinery and systems including: Handling Systems, Conveyors, Precision Components, Mechanical Cutting Machinery, Ultrasonic Cutting Systems.
• There will be an opportunity to visit sites to supervise machine installations, and this could include Overseas travel.

The Person:

Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate the following:

• At least 18 months experience in the use of 2D & 3D design software packages such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Vault and Inventor.
• Excellent attention to detail and a strong understanding of geometrical tolerances.
• Experience in the design of High Value Capital Equipment and Components.

Salary and Benefits Package includes:

• Salary £42,000 pa - £52,000 per annum
• Bonus based on company performance
