Job summary

Bennett And Game Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Design Manager in Cheltenham to lead the design team, drive improvements and deliver SP machinery from concept through to manufacture and commissioning. You will oversee hands-on design work and mentor engineers in a collaborative environment.

Job Title: Mechanical Design Manager

Location: Cheltenham

Salary: £55,000- £60,000 (dependent on experience)

A long-established and respected UK-based engineering business is expanding its team due to continued growth and increasing demand. Specializing in bespoke automation, robotics integration, and special purpose machinery, this company is seeking a Mechanical Design Manager to help bolster an already established mechanical design team and drive continuous improvement across the department.

Mechanical Design Manager Responsibilities

• Hands on designing special purpose machinery and working across a variety of industry sectors.
• Lead and support the Mechanical Design team, providing clear direction, effective day-to-day management and creating a collaborative and productive working environment
• Ensure Mechanical Design activities are delivered to the required quality and within agreed project timescales, working with the team and wider business to identify and resolve potential challenges.
• Support the ongoing professional and technical development of the team, identifying training needs, skills gaps and opportunities for individuals to develop within their roles.

Mechanical Design Manager Requirements

• Proven experience leading or managing a Mechanical Design team, including supporting team development, performance reviews and setting objectives.
• Strong mechanical design experience, ideally within automation, special-purpose machinery, robotics or a similar engineering environment.
• Experience delivering engineering projects from concept through to manufacture, assembly and commissioning, with a good understanding of the full project lifecycle.
• Strong working knowledge of 3D CAD and engineering design practices, including drawings, BOMs, design reviews and engineering standards.

Mechanical Design Manager Salary & Benefits

Salary- £55,000 - £60,000Annual bonus of £5000 based on overall company performance and personal KPI'S
