Job summary

Teledyne UK is seeking a Mechanical Development Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team and contribute to safety-critical design projects. You will develop innovative, cost-effective mechanical solutions while analysing existing products and ensuring producibility with suppliers.

You will apply modern manufacturing techniques, participate in design reviews, and help manage product data packs to maintain high-quality specifications and clear documentation.

Qualifications

• General experience in all aspects of mechanical design.
• Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience using 3D design software (ideally AutoCAD Inventor).
• Experience with Design for Manufacture (DfM).
• Experience in design to component level.
• Exposure to safety-critical design is beneficial but not essential.
• Ability to communicate with external customers and suppliers.
• Understanding of FEA and related software is advantageous.
• Adaptable with strong attention to detail and quality mindset.
• Proficient with MS Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop safety-critical mechanical designs for new products and analyze existing ones.
• Liaise with suppliers to ensure manufacturability and cost effectiveness.
• Participate in design reviews and communicate requirements to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Work with multi-functional teams to deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions.
• Maintain product data packs and ensure clear information standards.
