Job summary

Teledyne Technologies Incorporated in the UK seeks a Mechanical Development Engineer to contribute to safety-critical product development within a multidisciplinary team, focusing on robust, manufacturable designs and high-reliability performance.

You will analyse materials, tolerances and supplier interfaces, participate in design reviews, and translate customer needs into cost-effective, compliant designs while keeping abreast of latest manufacturing techniques.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience using 3D design software (ideally AutoCAD Inventor).
• Experience in Design for Manufacture (DfM).
• Design to component level expertise.
• Exposure to safety-critical design is beneficial.
• Ability to communicate with external customers and suppliers.
• Familiarity with FEA software is a plus.
• Proficient with MS Office and time management.

Responsibilities

• Develop safety-critical, high-reliability mechanical designs with a multidisciplinary team.
• Base design decisions on modern manufacturing techniques, tolerancing, and environmental requirements.
• Collaborate with sales and development teams to understand new bid requirements for future work.
• Liaise with suppliers to ensure materials and designs meet specifications and tolerances.
• Contribute to design reviews and translate requirements for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to the development and management of product data packs.
