Experienced Mechanical Design Engineer required to create and deliver high-technology automation and special purpose machinery solutions within a busy R&D environment.

Our client has been established for almost a quarter of a century and are recognised as market leaders in the provision of bespoke innovative materials handling and automation solutions to a diverse range of clients and industry sectors throughout the UK. Due to continued success and strategic growth, they are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic R&D team.

Working out of offices near Nottingham, the successful candidate will be responsible for duties including:

1. Designing bespoke solutions and modifying existing products from the solutions portfolio.
2. Producing drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD, and creating associated BOMs.
3. Performing engineering calculations and ensuring compliance with Machinery Directives and standards.
4. Liaising with customers and visiting sites as needed.
5. Interpreting technical documentation and generating design concepts in collaboration with other departments.

Requirements include experience with Master Model Design, Parametric design, Design Tables, CAD Macros / Automation, and programming skills. Experience with Rapid Prototyping, structural mechanics, FEA, kinematics, dynamics, PDM systems, and CAD library automation is advantageous.

Candidates should have a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with at least 3 years’ experience in machinery design, especially in automation or MHE sectors, focusing on electro-mechanical systems.
